KIDS’ GUERRILLA JIU JITSU PROGRAM

Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu Kids will develop a solid understanding of and efficiency in martial arts concepts and techniques. They will further develop into skilled, effective and confident leaders focused on developing others and our communities.  The benefits of martial arts training for children are well documented, and at GJJ of Thibodaux, our instructors focus on the following traits:

Self Confidence – Learning both self-restraint and control of others builds confidence in your child’s ability to manage his environment effectively.

Fitness – In modern times of video games and computers, BJJ is a particularly physical martial art that builds kids’ coordination, strength and overall fitness.

Discipline – The repetition, details, rhythms, rules, and protocols used for class assist in building self discipline.

Self Motivation – Kids track their progress and success as they work work up to their next level, their next belt, or that next technique.

Focus – BJJ classes help kids focus their mind and body towards learning increasingly complex techniques and strategies.

We believe these skills will help kids apply themselves to new challenges throughout their lives.  While much of these benefits may be achieved through most martial arts training or sports, the program at GJJ of Thibodaux is unique in that the kids’ curriculum is derived from David Camarillo’s Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu system, considered one of the most effective, technical, and proven martial arts systems taught today. To be blunt, this is not day care…your child will be learning Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu and WILL learn how to handle himself or herself as well as how to play well with others!!

KIDS’ CLASS STRUCTURE

Kids develop at a rapid pace from 5 to their early teen years, and we focus our curriculum and classes accordingly.  It is important in Jiu Jitsu for kids to have safe training partners that understand sportsmanship, so we spend a lot of time focusing on training new students on what it takes to be a ‘great training partner’.  Classes are run by our most advanced instructors and last one hour long.  Classes are offered 3 days per week and students are encouraged to attend as many as they can.
