Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Instructor Scotty Smith Jr_

Having competed in the early years of BJJ and MMA along the gulf coast, Scotty has won his fare share of competitions. After satisfying his competitive needs, he found his true passion as a Martial Arts Instructor and pursued it as a career, thus creating Next Generation Martial Arts. His current rank is 2nd degree Black Belt under Dave Camarillo's Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu system.

Shane Thibodaux

Shane joined the Marine Corps right after graduating high school and spent close to a decade in the service. Making the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT) has provided him with leadership skills that help him tremendously as a jiu jitsu instructor. He began training in Jan 2016 and is a home grown brown belt of Next Generation Martial Arts. His ability as a budding instructor has been just as impressive as his rolling capability.

Dr. Joshua Huval, started martial arts as a child where he trained karate for a brief period of time. As he grew older he graduated high school and joined the Marine Corps in 1999. After four years of service he began pursing his medical degree. After graduating med school in 2012 and his residency in 2015; Dr. Huval began training jiu jitsu in the fall of 2015. He is another home grown brown belt of Next Generation Martial Arts. His understanding of anatomy along with his on the mat ability give him a unique perspective as an instructor.

A former Sgt. in the Army, Tony has served our country and now sets an example for personal growth. After 4 years of training TKD, Tony started his BJJ journey. He embraced the Guerrilla concepts of fundamentals in order to achieve control and positional dominance prior to application of submissions. Tony is a passionate practitioner who enjoys sharing what he's learned so that he can help others achieve their own personal goals of physical and mental health.

Kid's Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu Instructor

Born into a martial arts family, Ty began training as soon as he could walk. Having competed in and winning countless competitions around the country between BJJ, TKD, and MMA he has accumulated a healthy dose of experience. He is currently a Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu blue belt, and the head instructor of our Pre-k Martial Arts program. His high energy level and experience is perfect for teaching young children. There's a reason he's our favorite instructor amongst the kid's.

Jeremy started training in the summer of 2020. Since then he's become a staple training partner for everyone at Next Generation Martial Arts. His ability and growth on the mats has been impressive but his willingness and commitment to assist in the kids program has proved to be invaluable. Having coached kids soccer for a number of years, Jeremy has a unique balance of being patient and instilling discipline when working with kids.

Trepp started training in the winter of 2020. A contractor by trade, he understands how to build things from the ground up, is no stranger to hard work and it shows in his training. An amazing father of five, Trepp knows how to work with children. His tacit knowledge gained thru his; work, children and training make him a highly qualified individual to teach children. His commitment and consistency have made him an asset at Next Generation Martial Arts.
